Regional Economic Promotion Team Supports Investment-Friendly of WNT Province
West Nusa Tenggara (WNT) economy faces a number of opportunities as well as challenges in 2019. Where the programs in the context of downstreaming the main commodities, controlling inflation, and reducing poverty need to be implemented immediately. On the other hand, financing for strategic projects requires a lot of financing and investment. Investment, financing, trade / manufacture are the capital for future economic development.
Supporting investment-friendly areas in accordance the main program of RPJMD in 2019-2023, the WNT Provincial Government initiated to formation the WNT Regional Economic Promotion Team. The Representative Office of Bank Indonesia together with the WNT DPMPTSP (One Stop Investment and Licensing Service), Bappeda, and the Tourism Office discussed the formation of the LSIRU (Lombok Sumbawa Investor Relation Unit). This LSIRU will synergize joint efforts in improving communication with investors regarding investment potentials and regional policies.
At the initial meeting on Friday (19/07), it was discussed about the form and institution of LSIRU, the LSIRU working mechanism, and efforts to promote investment to both foreign and domestic investors.
The activities to attract investors by synergizing with several agencies have actually been carried out since last year. One on One meeting with potential investors at the Investment Forum in Yogyakarta in 2018 was carried out by the WNT Province Bank Indonesia Representative Office, WNT Province DPMPTSP, and PT ITDC (Persero). Likewise, the meeting with potential investors from the USA who came to WNT Province in 2018 has synergized between the WNT Provincial Government, Bank Indonesia Representative Office, and PT ITDC (Persero) as well as business actors to introduce investment potential in WNT Province.
Achris Sarwani, Head of BI WNT Representative Office, hopes that in the future OPD / related institutions can increase their commitment to support regional investment promotion efforts with data / information for promotion to potential investors.
"For this reason, it is necessary to establish a joint working mechanism and also a regular meeting schedule as part of the work process of the regional economic promotion team", added Achris Sarwani.
Then Gita Ariadi, Head of the WNT Province DPMPTSP, argued that investment and promotion needed to be encouraged in the WNT Province. The investment challenges in the future for provinces outside Java Island are getting bigger in line with the better toll road infrastructure that connects a number of regions in Java. So that investment in Java Island is still attractive to investors.
"We propose that the formation of this team is not only related to investment, but also the Regional Economic Promotion Team. So that in addition to investment it will also encourage financing and trade, as well as tourism. That’s why the several agencies need to be involved, such as the Office of Communication, Information and Statistics, and banking. , "added Lalu Gita Ariadi.
W. M Ardhi, Head of Bappeda WNT, said, "The core economy in the province in 2 (two) sectors, agriculture and tourism in the future is directed at downstreaming agricultural commodities. In the future, selective promotion is needed in leading sectors to be encouraged".
In the future, the synergy between agencies / institutions and business actors needs to be continuously strengthened. LSIRU or the Regional Economic Promotion Team as a forum for increased investment is expected to improve the communication with investors regarding investment potential and regional policies that can increase competitiveness and investment realization rates in WNT Province. So that in the end it will improve the economy in WNT Province. (novita- media team, source: BI WNT)
